Shift Supervisor
About the role
The Shift Supervisor will lead a team of up to eighteen production associates at Georgia-Pacific's MDF manufacturing site in Mt. Jewett, PA. The role involves managing, mentoring, and coaching a team to achieve production, quality, safety, and reliability targets. The supervisor will also oversee production efforts to drive continuous improvement in all associated work processes affecting EHS, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating team development and growth, employee skill development, problem-solving, and resolution;
- Building employee commitment and ownership and holding employees accountable;
- Identifying and executing initiatives that will help drive improvements in competitive position, delivering value to the business, and meeting Clarendon’s key drivers’ objectives;
- Supervising and coordinating production efforts to drive continuous improvement in all associated work processes affecting EHS, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs;
- Leading a wood products production team to work injury-free/incident free in a continuous manufacturing process;
- Fostering an environment consistent with Principle Based Management philosophy and framework;
- Driving safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively eliminate hazards;
- Monitoring product quality and providing direction to crew members to maximize production efficiency; providing safety training to crew members; providing coaching, team development/performance management through Principle Based Management processes; mentoring crew members to enable them to develop their Knowledge/Skills/Abilities for career advancement.
Requirements
- OSB Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory/team management experience OR a bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of general safe work practices
- Problem solving/Root Cause Analysis
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel)
- Able to work an 8- or 12-hour rotating shift schedule - days/evenings/weekends
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds

Schedule
The role will be responsible for the 2nd shift with some weekend coverage. In some cases, the role requires coverage for other supervisors.
