Responsibilities
- Schedule all accepted orders to promote efficient equipment utilization, minimize inventories, and meet customer delivery requirements.
- Communicate schedules in a timely manner to all operating departments.
- Generate and distribute daily production and inventory reports.
- Ensure proper sequencing of work roll campaigns with coordinators.
- Verify sequences are aligned to cast on-time and meet rolling objectives.
- Coordinate with operations personnel to ensure slabs are sequenced properly for slab casting, rolling, and plate stacking requirements.
- Assist order expeditor by providing slabs to meet change requests.
- Review scheduled slabs to ensure the most current orders are prioritized, considering order backlog and slab yields.
- Re-plan planned stock to live orders when possible.
- Ensure unscheduled slabs are utilized to complete open orders, with approval for cross-application.
- Review unplanned orders within the desired campaign date range and ensure all orders are scheduled for production.
- Assist in expediting key customer orders.
- Support bundle reallocation based on shipping requests.
- Confirm production schedules minimize material that cannot immediately be applied to a customer order.
- Review previous day’s slab, plate, and coil production to ensure correct dispositions and application to customer orders.
- Perform reviews of all unapplied slab, plate, and coil inventories to ensure correct disposition and application to customer orders.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of steel industry experience.
- Familiarity with SSAB’s order processing and quality systems.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Suite.
- Attention to detail, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Manufacturing operations planning and inventory management experience.
- Knowledge of SSAB’s products, production processes, scheduling practices, and systems.
Education
Required: High school diploma or GED/HSE equivalent.
Preferred: Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Operates primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners).
- Mostly sedentary role, but requires frequent ability to walk, bend, kneel, or stand.
- Use of hands to finger, hold, and handle materials; reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry items up to 10 lbs.
- Periodic work in the mill environment with exposure to heat/cold, walking/stairs, noise, and safety equipment/clothing.
- Requires balance, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Vision capabilities: near, mid, and far range.
- Hearing capabilities: in-person, phone, and group settings.
Schedule
- Full-time, hourly position eligible for overtime.
- 12-hour rotating swing shift, including nights and days.
