Shift Manager
About the role
Managers lead weekly shifts, ensuring customers get a fast, accurate, friendly experience every visit. They provide leadership to the crew and other managers during a shift to ensure excellent quality, service, and cleanliness for customers. Shift Managers perform a variety of tasks, including planning for each shift, monitoring performance during the shift, taking action to ensure the team meets McDonald’s standards, monitoring safety, security, and profitability, and communicating with the next Shift Manager to help prepare him/her to run a great shift, too.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute shifts to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and quality in all areas of the restaurant.
- Monitor and address issues related to food safety, inventory management, and daily maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth operations and exceptional customer service.
- Ensure compliance with McDonald’s policies and procedures.
- Manage crew members, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
- Work collaboratively with the next Shift Manager to ensure a seamless transition between shifts.
- Meet and exceed departmental and individual performance targets.
Requirements
- Previous leadership experience, preferably within a restaurant, retail, or hospitality environment.
- A positive attitude and a passion for working in a fast-paced environment.
- A flexible schedule and the ability to adapt to the demands of the job.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with team members and customers.
- At least 18 years old to work as a manager in a Franchisee-owned McDonald’s restaurant.
Qualifications
While not specified in the job posting, a high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Previous experience in a managerial role is preferred, but not mandatory. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
