About the role
This position is responsible for leading all aspects of shift operations in a packaging manufacturing environment. This role ensures the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and employee development.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily production activities to achieve safety, quality and efficiency goals.
- Prioritize people safety, food safety, and quality above all else.
- Communicate daily plans, priorities, and upcoming changes.
- Serve as a frontline resource, providing guidance and support to employees.
- Works with Plant Manager to develop strategies that drive key performance metrics.
- Partner with Business Development by providing production data to support accurate and timely quote development.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all shifts to effectively report on performance and operational status.
- Oversee and manage product trials, ensuring proper execution, documentation, and reporting of results.
- Participate in scheduling meetings and evaluate the production schedule from a holistic, cross-shift perspective.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, SOPs and regulatory compliance consistently across shift.
- Mentor and develop production supervisors and frontline employees, fostering growth and engagement.
- Address performance or behavioral issues in alignment with company’s core values.
- Set and communicate clear performance expectations, holding employees accountable.
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to schedule orders efficiently and meet customer requirements.
- Apply critical thinking to identify bottlenecks, implement process improvements, and optimize workflow.
- Ensure staffing resources are effectively allocated to meet production demands.
- Partners with the Human Resources Department to share and address business needs.
- Promote an inclusive and values-driven workplace culture.
Requirements
- Achieve a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Operations Management, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or other related fields.
- Minimum of 6+ years’ experience in supervision or management.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree or equivalent in Operations Management, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or other related fields.
Skills
- Regular use of logic and critical thinking to analyze situations.
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Ability to lead a diverse team of support and professional staff.
- Divisional responsibility; ability to lead a large team.
- Strong attention to detail with effective critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Teams and other MS Office functions.
- Experience with SAP.
