Shift Leader, Production
Position Summary
Serves as a leader and resource to all off-shift employees while acting as a “working supervisor,” overseeing the shift’s production processes, employees, and building for assigned shift. This position serves to direct others to maximize production while taking action to achieve safety, quality, customer satisfaction and innovation. The Shift Leader works with multiple areas, such as engineering and quality assurance to provide solutions to problems and to effectively communicate information within the team structure.
- Responsible for overseeing and providing support to all employees on designated shift.
- Provides technical support for quality and process questions when quality and engineering are not available.
- Is the shift contact person for all personnel issues, i.e., absences, safety, for the assigned building, etc.
- Communicates with production supervisors on any issues that may arise on the off shift.
- Performs all tasks associated with tending machines, such as, loading and unloading parts, changing filters, checking, and maintaining fluid levels.

Principle Responsibilities

Credentials/Experience Qualification Requirements
- High School diploma and three to five years’ experience.
- Medical Manufacturing Experience Plus.
- CNC Machinist Medical Device Experience.
- Knowledge of production work schedules.
- Knowledge to perform CMM dimensional inspection.
- Ability to apply principles of GD& T.
- Possesses basic computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity, etc.
- Able to effectively communicate between shift changes to ensure production schedule is maintained.
- Able to train less experienced operators.
- Applies all knowledge of 5S to his area and to the shop floor.
- Learns and practices daily all Lean practices introduced in area.
- Follows all PPE requirements for all employees on assigned shift.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand.
- The employee could frequently be required to walk;
- Use hand to finger, handle, or feel;
- Reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- The employee could occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job could include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 5%.
