Shift Leader - 1st Shift

About the role

The Shift Leader oversees and manages the operations of all Youth Care Workers in the Operations Center of an on-site children's residential facility. They act as the liaison between the Youth Care Workers and other on-site vendors.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision of youth case workers and ensures they maintain line-of-sight at all times.
• Completes all required documentation that pertains to the assigned department in a timely fashion, which may include daily reports.
• Safeguards appropriate shelter care and line-of-sight supervision of unaccompanied minors by assigned staff.
• Supports the Lead through formal or informal supervision and provides staff with ongoing feedback.
• Communicates frequently with the shift supervisor and assists during transition and movement of children.
• Participates in ongoing meetings, conferences, and training programs as required.
• Provides coverage for assigned staff when needed.
• Adheres to all Urban Strategies, contract agencies, and other state regulations.
• Maintains surveillance systems and ensures they are always recorded.
• Ensures safe operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

Requirements

• A self-motivated and dedicated person with 3 years of experience working with youths or similar environments.
• A professional with competencies in diversity, conflict management, communication, and proactivity.
• Able to manage multiple staff, managers, and projects in a prioritized manner.
• Able to lift up to 15 lbs and withstand changing environmental conditions.
• Able to communicate verbally and listen for constant surveillance of staff activities.
• Able to ascend/descend stairs and perform duties safely.
• Bilingual (English – Spanish) preferred.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Professional skills in leadership, teamwork, community approach, and office 0365.
• Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate accountability, responsibility, and dependability.
• Experience in maintaining a clean and orderly work area and ensuring safe operating conditions.

Skills

• Office 0365.
• Bilingual (English – Spanish).
