About the role
Opens and closes the store in the absence of store management, including all required systems start-ups, cash handling, and ensuring the floor and stock room are ready for the business day. Responsible for opening the back door for deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Complete product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and provide change as requested to cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions.
- Model and share customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
- Hold store keys to open and close without management as necessary.
- Assist and coach team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes, including opening the backdoor for vendor deliveries.
- Register all related sales on assigned cash register, including handling scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, and voids.
- Assist in reviewing order exceptions on order release day and reverse logistics (e.g., returns, empty packages).
- Assist in evaluating and developing displays, including promotional, seasonal, super structures, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and on-hand quantities, including stockroom and overstock locations.
- Ensure the Outdate program is followed with team members.
- Handle basic department pricing and daily price changes; ensure proper signage and compliance with local regulations and regulatory programs.
- Assist with bookkeeping activities, including cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payment.
- Maintain clean, neat, and orderly store condition and appearance; request repairs as needed.
- Assist with separation and placement of food items according to policies/procedures (e.g., raw foods from pre-cooked, stock rotation using first in, first out method).
- Operate store systems and equipment.
- Assist at the Pharmacy out window as requested.
- Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
- Conduct bag checks of team members before leaving the store.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
- Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager.
Communications
- Serve as a liaison between management and non-management team members by communicating assigned tasks when store management is not present.
- Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.
Qualifications
- One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- Valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
Pay
Salary Range: $17 - $20 / Hourly
