Shift Lead
About the role
The Veterinary Hospital Shift Lead (“Shift Lead”) provides exceptional client and pet experiences while assisting the Practice Manager and/or Chief of Staff (COS) in guiding the team to maximize productivity and profitability of the hospital, and helps ensure effective communication with all clients, internal stakeholders, and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the team when called upon and ensure quality medical care, exceptional client service, associate engagement and maximum productivity.
- Support the development of an efficient, productive team that provides the highest quality care and service to the most pets and clients.
- Ensure compliance with all practice policies and procedures.
- Perform the duties of a Client Services Coordinator and Veterinary Assistant when needed.
- Assist in effectively scheduling associates to meet client needs, while proactively planning time off and CE scheduling.
- Provide professional, efficient and exceptional client service (lead by example), ensuring all associates do the same, to include client education about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services, marketing campaigns, and other related information; effectively resolve client issues.
- Ensure adherence to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Minimum of two years of veterinary hospital experience.
- Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time.
- Ability to be confident around pets (i.e., dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.).
- Special Working Conditions: Ability to work special hours including weekends and evening shifts.
- Mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
- Comfortable working in an environment with loud noise (moderately high) and strong smells.
- Sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties while at hospital.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Associate is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $19.42 - $24.82 Hourly.
