About the Role
A Shift Coordinator is an hourly, non-exempt position responsible for assisting the management team in all aspects of shift management. Completion of the Shift Coordinator Program is required prior to starting training.
Responsibilities
- Performs all duties as outlined in the Shift Coordinator certification program
- Sets an example for team members by implementing the shift plan and ensuring swift, smooth production
- Delegates tasks to encourage teamwork and ensure restaurant operations comply with company standards
- Communicates daily work goals to the team from leadership
- Motivates team members to exceed guest expectations with food and friendly service in clean surroundings
- Acts on guest feedback and resolves complaints in a timely, friendly, and professional manner
- Reports violations of safety, sanitation, security, and other company policies to restaurant management
- Follows all POS comp procedures and cash handling procedures—may never discount their own checks
- Assists leadership with coordinating and scheduling interviews for hourly team members
- Adheres to manager appearance standards when performing Shift Coordinator duties
- Demonstrates professional and ethical behavior at all times when interacting with guests, employees, and managers
- Directs, trains, and motivates employees to ensure proper completion of assigned tasks and checklists
- Follows all procedures and policies to ensure the safety of employees and guests
- Assists managers with promotional roll-outs and training
- Prepares and sorts documents for data entry, including entering invoices into database software
- Tracks, reviews, and submits invoices, resolving discrepancies and obtaining further information as needed
- Completes additional tasks as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma preferred
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Valid driver’s license
- 18+ years of age
- Possession of or ability to obtain all state-required work cards
- Minimum of one (2) years of related experience
- Familiarity with OpenTable
- Knowledge of proper lifting techniques, guest relations, sanitation, and safety
- Experience with safe alcohol service and full-service restaurant operations
- Ability to communicate effectively and assertively in English, both verbally and in writing
Working Conditions
- Work indoors and/or outdoors, exposed to hot and/or cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors
- Work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, and smoke, depending on guest volume
- Fast-paced, high-volume, full-service restaurant setting
- Varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Ability to repeat the same movements for extended periods
- Ability to understand and clearly communicate speech
- Ability to push and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
