Sheriffs Cadet
About the role
The Placer County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a Sheriff's Cadet position. This structured mentorship program prepares individuals for a career in law enforcement by training cadets with the Youth and Community Services Unit to perform various routine and increasingly challenging non-sworn duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform various routine and progressively more difficult non-sworn duties under the supervision of Sheriff's Office staff.
- Serve the Placer County community alongside Sheriff's Office staff.
- Grow skills and experience in preparation for entry-level law enforcement positions, such as Deputy Sheriff Trainee.
- Work up to 28 hours over a 7-day period, with flexibility to choose a schedule between 0630-2200, Monday to Sunday.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Background investigation to ensure high moral character, honesty, and exemplary work ethic.
- A positive attitude toward fellow workers and the community they will serve.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a physical fitness test.
- Pass a drug screening.
Benefits
Temporary/Extra-help assignments are limited to 28 hours per week with a cap of 999 hours or 960 hours for CalPERS retired annuitants in a fiscal year and are not eligible for benefits.
Pay
Temporary/Extra-help assignments are not eligible for benefits.
Schedule
Temporary/Extra-help assignments are flexible, with the option to work between 0630-2200, Monday to Sunday, with a maximum of 28 hours per week.
