Sheriff's Public Safety Dispatcher I
About the role
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher I to join their team. This position serves the community through exceptional public service, aligning with the Sheriff’s Office Mission and Vision.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate 911, emergency, and business calls, and other public utility service calls.
- Operate multi-channel radio systems, monitor other communication channels, and maintain radio traffic on main channels.
- Transfer calls to appropriate parties or create a law enforcement call for service.
- Operate computer equipment to access local, state, and federal criminal justice information systems.
- Operate communication systems to transmit and receive information with allied law enforcement agencies.
Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from high school.
- One (1) year of public contact and/or non-emergency dispatching experience.
Qualifications
- Public Safety Dispatch I Experience.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
- Proficiency with computer systems and communication technologies.
Benefits
The Sheriff’s Personnel Unit will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following recommendations. Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
Pay
Up to $6,000 recruitment incentive, paid in equal installments for the first twenty-six (26) consecutive biweekly pay periods in the position. Termination from employment will result in any remaining cash incentive payments being forfeited.
Schedule
Evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts are required.
