Sheriff's Program Technician

About the role

The position involves examinations written exams, primarily assessing knowledge of basic socioeconomic principles, program terminology, customer service principles, community resources, and various administrative skills.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of basic socioeconomic principles
• Program terminology and applicable programs
• Customer service principles and community resources
• Basic mathematical principles
• Avoiding errors in documentation and maintaining accuracy
• Verifying documents to determine eligibility for benefits, social services, and employment
• Conducting needs assessments
• Making referrals for services
• Providing administrative support in a law enforcement agency in a clerical capacity
• Interviewing clients and providing program information to the public

Requirements

• High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
• Two (2) years of education, training, and/or experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
• Related work experience may include verifying documents, conducting needs assessments, making referrals, and providing administrative support in a law enforcement agency

Qualifications

• Valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License
• Pass an extensive background investigation and be fingerprinted
• Disqualification for certain felony, misdemeanor, and traffic offenses on a case-by-case basis
