About the role
The Prince William County Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified applicants to serve the community. The starting salary is $60,789 per year. Applicants must meet certain criteria including being at least 21 years old, a U.S. citizen, having a valid driver's license, and holding a High School Diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Provide security for the Judicial Center complex
- Serve civil process
- Transport prisoners and patients to court ordered proceedings
- Participate in community programs such as Project Lifesaver, Senior Safe, Gun Safety, etc.
- Collaborate with elected leaders, staff, and citizens to enhance services
- Assist local police departments in primary duties as needed
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age by academy graduation date
- Must be a U.S. citizen at time of application
- Must have a valid driver's license at time of application
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED by date of hire
- Must pass a medical exam and physical abilities assessment
- Must pass a hearing exam
- Must not be colorblind
- Must not have any felony convictions

- Must be able to work 8-hour rotating or permanent shifts

Pay
The starting salary is $60,789 per year. Virginia Law Enforcement officers/deputies are eligible to receive a higher salary based on years of service. Certified out-of-state applicants are eligible for a shortened transitional academy.
Schedule
Shifts may include working days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Rotating shifts are required.
