About The Role
Position is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented SHEQ Coordinator to support the implementation and continuous improvement of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards within our organization. In this role, you will work closely with the SHEQ Manager and operational team to ensure compliance with Company policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices while fostering a strong safety culture primarily from project sites and yard in the state of Virginia.
PROFILE
Key Responsibilities
- SHEQ Compliance & Culture
Promote and ensure adherence to SHEQ policies, procedures, and standards.
Support a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Ensure all activities comply with internal standards and local legislation.
Inspections & Risk Management
Perform workplace inspections and risk assessments.
Identify hazards and provide practical guidance on risk prevention.
Monitor corrective and preventive actions and ensure proper follow-up.
Assist with internal audits and track findings in reporting systems.
Incident & Accident Management
Support investigations of incidents and accidents.
Identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
Ensure corrective actions are executed and effective.
SHEQ Systems & Policy Support
Aid in and update SHEQ policies and procedures.
Support implementation and monitoring of SHEQ systems.
Reporting & Administration
Aid with the preparation of SHEQ reports including safety metrics.
Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance certificates.
Perform SHEQ-related administrative tasks.
Communication & Training
Support SHEQ communications (toolbox talks, safety alerts, …)
Cook up with HR to ensure new hire induction and SHEQ training courses are completed by employees.
Build relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and help drive SHEQ improvement initiatives.
Participate in organizational and departmental projects.
Stay updated through training and professional development. - Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Safety, qq are Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification
First Aid/CPR/AED training certification
2–5 years of experience in a SHEQ or HSE role.
Knowledge of SHEQ systems, ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards, and U.S. OSHA legislation.
Experience with risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
