About the role

The Youth Ministry Coordinator at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church (SOTP) will develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote spiritual growth, fellowship, and community for youth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities for youth to explore identity, belonging, and purpose through a grounded Christian faith and community.
• Work with the Pastor, the Director of Children and Family Ministry, and the Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Team to build a cohesive and complimentary program for youth of all ages.
• Expand into areas of ministry involving middle school and college-aged youth.
• Work flexible hours including regular night and weekend commitments, especially Wednesdays and Sundays.
• Occasionally commit to periodic overnights, weeklong trips, and other extended time commitments.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Youth Ministry, Theology, Education).
• Experience working with youth in a faith-based setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
• Passion for fostering spiritual growth and community among youth.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in youth ministry or related field.
• Experience leading worship services and small groups.
• Knowledge of youth culture and current trends.
• Experience with technology and social media platforms.

Skills

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
