About the role
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Resident Assistant will provide support to Hope House residents and create a hospitable and safe environment in the shelter.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to shelter residents.
- Monitor the activities of the residents within the shelter environment.
- Complete daily Shift log checklist during your shift.
- Review and record the Communication Log each shift.
- Conduct security wanding upon resident admission, as well as random wand checks.
- Monitor the physical facility by making rounds every half hour and conducting periodic inspections to ensure rooms are clean, facility is secure and that clients are abiding by house rules.
- Make referrals to alternative emergency shelter providers when Program beds are unavailable.
- Maintain basic record keeping responsibilities, including performing electronic intakes in the database and completing accurate time sheets in a timely manner.
- Check individual work email daily.
- Attend and participate in monthly Staff meetings/Resident meetings.
- Attend relevant In-Service training/conferences, as requested.
- Complete all mandatory training (in-person and online) in a timely manner.
- Clean linens and maintain cleanliness of the facility (inside and perimeter).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate Degree preferred.
Qualifications
- Crisis intervention skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a continually changing and challenging environment.
- Flexibility in personal work schedule; must be available for relief hours as needed.
- Basic computer skills required for completion of intakes, time sheets, email, and daily logs.
Schedule
Part-time position — 16 hours per week (Tuesday/Thursday, 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM).
