About the role

Entry-level positions are available in the following departments: Receiving and Live Hanger. Candidates may be invited to attend a tour to observe the jobs in each department.

Responsibilities

• Stand approximately 8 hours per day while hanging birds onto an overhead shackle line
• Use both hands to grasp live chickens by the legs, ensuring no bruising or breaking of parts
• Lift the chicken, turn it upside down with the breast facing away
• Hang at least 28 birds per minute, each weighing approximately 5-10 pounds
• Wear all required safety equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
• Work at a fast pace for the entire shift
• Work flexible hours and some weekends as production requires
• Work in cold, hot, damp, and dusty environments
• Observe all required hygiene and safety procedures at all times
• Stand for the entire shift
• Perform repetitive bending, lifting, twisting, and turning
• Comply with all company policies and rules
• Work in dim and ultraviolet fluorescent lighting
• Work around minimal dust and/or ammonia from live birds
• Perform other duties within the department as required

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must provide proof of authorization to work legally in the United States
• Must pass a urinalysis screening as part of the post-offer health assessment
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

Rehire eligibility: Candidates may be rehired if they have not worked with Tyson more than 3 times and after a waiting period of 181 days. Applications are active only for the month in which they are submitted.
