Sheetmetal Worker - Skilled

About the role

Electric Boat is seeking individuals to join our Sheetmetal Department, part of our ongoing growth and development of advanced submarine designs for the U.S. Navy. This role requires a combination of technical skills and a commitment to safety and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Interpret construction drawings with basic mathematical ability
• Lay out, fabricate, assemble, and install light gage metalwork including air-conditioned ductwork, lockers, cabinets, prefabricated bulkheads, doors, furniture, and Formica
• Work with company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, shipyard procedures, and shop machinery
• Perform work in restricted or confined spaces

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED, plus 2+ years of relevant technical experience
• 5+ years of relevant sheetmetal fabrication experience
• Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program
• Previous metal fabrication experience in military shipbuilding, manufacturing, or automotive industries
• Ability to work all shifts and in various environments, including radiological areas
• Willingness to accept road job assignments
• Basic hand tools provided by Electric Boat
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED, and at least 2 years of relevant technical experience. Additionally, 5+ years of relevant sheetmetal fabrication experience is preferred, along with successful completion of the EWIB Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program. Previous experience in military shipbuilding, manufacturing, or automotive industries is also preferred.

$33.19 - $43.61 per hour
