Essential Job Responsibilities
- Cook up and supervise the daily production activities of assigned staff
- Support the Supervisor / Manager with day-to-day operations to meet safety, cost, quality and schedule
- Manage day-to-day direction from supervision including flow of parts and resources
- Ensure that production goals and objectives are met in a timely and efficient manner
- Monitor production performance, identify areas of improvement, and take corrective action as needed
- Ensure that production processes are carried out in accordance with established safety and quality standards
- Must be able to learn and understand equipment, as well as setup and run the equipment
- Perform most of the hands-on or OJT training for the team members
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Train and mentor production staff in the use of equipment and processes
- Maintain employee attendance and performance records
- Develop and implement production schedules and workflows
- Enforce company policies and procedures in a consistent and fair manner
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper stock rotation
- Troubleshoot production issues and resolve them in a timely manner
- Motivate team by leading by example
- Model appropriate behavior and reinforce Sonaca North America policies and procedures
- Create a culture for continuous improvement
- Initiate and support continuous improvement by helping the team learn and implement lean manufacturing process improvement tools
- Serve as an expert in the Production Operator tasks, working with management, leads, quality personnel, etc., to resolve technical problems
- Absorb and assist HR and training personnel as needed, in the development and evaluation of formalized skill training programs and materials
- Participate in team meetings and scheduling activities
- Serve as the Safety Monitor for the work center operations
- May be asked to help develop work instructions or serve on various work center and/or cross functional process improvement teams, task forces, and rapid improvement projects
- May be asked to temporarily work at or assist other work centers
- Must know, understand and follow all job tools available and applicable to the job and the plant, including work instructions, the Employee Handbook, etc.
Education And Experiences
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- 1+ years in a leadership / lead role
- Experience reading blueprints
- Knowledge of production processes and equipment
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, twist and stretch arms above head and walk or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and heavier objects with assistance
- Must be able to push and pull heavy racks
- Regularly required to talk or hear
- Frequently required to walk and sit
