Sheeter/Cutter Operator

About the Role

As a Sheeter/Cutter Operator at Quad’s modern packaging facility in Franklin, you will efficiently perform set-up and operate a machine that cuts rolls up to 59" of paper stock into sheets of a specific size and quantity. This role involves working in a collaborative environment where quality, safety, and teamwork are prioritized. You’ll contribute to creating packaging found on store shelves across the country while expanding your skills with advanced printing and finishing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Confirm orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Set up and operate the precision cutter, following pre-production, make-ready, and production-run tasks and instructions.
• Cross-train as assigned.
• Operate powered equipment, including:
  • Guillotine Cutter
  • Hand tools (powered screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.)
  • Compressed air hoses
  • Powered and assisted lifting devices
  • Clamp forklift, scissor/man lifts, hand jacks
  • Elevator sorting/staging platform
  • Scanning devices and bar-code readers
  • Keyboard and touch computers
• Perform work while standing or walking next to the cutter on the floor or scaffold areas (up to 7-8 ft. high).
• Use roll pushers to move rolls of paper weighing approximately 1,400-5,600+ lbs.
• Lift and move pallets/skids with up to 1,500 lbs. of product using mechanical or electrical hand pallet jacks.
• Crawl under and into the cutter, reach into all areas to set up and monitor rollers for a perfect production run.
• Perform multiple tasks, including troubleshooting and following instructions.

Requirements

• Previous sheeter (roll tender) experience preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and read metric measurements.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand Basic English.
• Familiarity with machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Computer proficiency.
• Troubleshooting experience.
• Understanding of the USA dating system.
• Knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
• Ability to quickly and accurately compare letters, numbers, objects, pictures, and patterns.
• Physical ability to:
  • Lift 10-15 pounds continuously and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Stand for long hours (12-hour shift).
  • Use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement.
  • Work in small spaces, including crawling under and into the cutter.
• Good vision, including peripheral and depth perception, and ability to pass a color test.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Machine repair and maintenance experience.
• Raw material inventory management experience.

Pay

Competitive starting wage between $17.50 - $19.50/hour, with higher pay for those with sheeting/rolltender experience. Eligible for a $2.00 shift premium.

Schedule

• 5 PM - 5 AM, Sunday - Tuesday (eligible for $2.00 shift premium).
• 5 PM - 5 AM, Wednesday - Friday (eligible for $2.00 shift premium).
