Sheeter Overview
A Sheeter is responsible for sheeting buildings and roofs.
Sheeter Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Spreads screws and/or welds metal sheets of steel for floor or roof decking and on sides of buildings.
- Flash and trim buildings with reasonable ease.
- Lay out sheeting for cutting to appropriate sizes.
- Handle sheets on the ground and secure sheets on walls and roof.
- Performs the functions as a Structural Ironworker.
- Responsible for adhering to the company safety and QA/QC programs, as well as OSHA rules and regulations.
- Use electrical tools such as screw guns, nibblers, and shears to secure sheets on buildings and roofs.
Sheeter Qualifications
- A high school education or equivalent.
- A minimum of two years’ experience as a sheeter and/or ironworker is required.
- Must have a tape measure, vise grips, crescent wrenches (10 and 12”), tin snips (left/right), and a tool belt.
Sheeter Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, etc. up to 300 feet.
- Must have the ability to lift your whole bodyweight while climbing.
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, carry, push, and pull frequently.
- Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, and a dusty/noisy work environment.
- Must be able to be around high voltage electromagnetic fields.
Physical Requirements
