Sheeter Assistant

About the role
The person who occupies this position is responsible for daily operations of sheeting equipment by following the current control plan specifications and matrix requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work within and adhere to GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork.
- Provides accurate quality and quantity of board stock for production for in 12-hour shift.
- Reviews material requisitions and produces sheets according to specifications such as caliper, roll width and board grade requested.
- Inspect incoming raw material board for shipping damage and wet stock and report to Department Manager.
- Responsible to adjust cutting blades as necessary to produce clean cut, ream cut jobs as needed, and operate core cutter to perform quality checks.
- Able to diagnose, trouble shoot equipment by early detection and sound of machine while in operation.
- Responsible to replace new paper reams and performs quality inspections.
- Responsible for entering rolls into production report as well as reconciling sheeted material, to insure proper inventory control.
- Responsible for checks for proper size, job number, customer name, stock type and caliper.
- Responsible for all make readies, change overs, back side printing on equipment.
- Responsible for housekeeping, maintenance, work orders, belt replacement etc.
- Must be able to obtain fork truck certification.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Must have physical coordination to operate forklift.
- Sheeting and/or paper board experience preferred but not required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of basic machinery, tools, equipment, basic computer knowledge, and fork truck experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand/walk up to 12 hours per shift.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays.
- Visual Color Discrimination - the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as within a team.
