Responsibilities

  • Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe and associated components
  • Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials
  • Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required
  • Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (speak, write, read) in English
  • Assist in supervising crews and organizing manpower for projects
  • Perform any other job-related duties assigned by supervisor or management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Airframe and Powerplant License preferred
  • Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or valid passport (ideal but not mandatory)
  • Prior experience working with sheet metal preferred
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints
  • Reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend assignments
  • Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work a scheduled shift
  • Reliable transportation to get to work each day
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands
  • Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas
  • Stand for long periods of time

Mental Requirements

  • Understand and implement regulations and guidelines
  • Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation
  • Work with others in a professional manner

Supervision

  • Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader
  • May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations (very cold to very hot)
  • Work outside during aircraft runs
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft

Equipment Used

  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
  • Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices
  • Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment
