Responsibilities
- Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe and associated components.
- Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials.
- Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required.
- Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
- Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
- Supervise crews and assist in organizing manpower and setting priorities for involved projects.
- Perform any other job-related duties assigned by supervisor or management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Airframe and Powerplant License is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
- Prior experience working with sheet metal is preferred.
- Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints.
- Reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend assignments.
- Reliable transportation to get to work each day.
- Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
- Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
- Maintain customer-oriented work habits.
Physical Requirements
- Lifts up to 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
- Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
- Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas.
- Standing for long periods of time.
Mental Requirements
- Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
- Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
- Work with others in a professional manner.
Supervision
- Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader.
- May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
- Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
- Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
- Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
- Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
- Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
- Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
