About the role
Under moderate direction, implements, monitors, and builds awareness of the organization’s safety, health, and environmental standards. Serves as a contact for safety and environmental compliance efforts while acting as the technical expert. Responsible for implementing and assessing regional Safety, Health, and Environmental compliance efforts and contributing to ergonomic programs that guide manufacturing, engineering, and ergonomic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assess Safety & Environmental Performance data and track consolidated plant metrics.
- Analyze and track Workers’ Compensation-related data for ergonomic trends.
- Implement organizational safety, health, and environmental standards to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment.
- Create and execute regular inspections to ensure compliance with laws and DENSO standards at local and North American regional levels.
- Develop written reports detailing the compliance status of sites within the North American region.
- Serve as a liaison for internal departments and outside agencies.
- Partner with others on special projects as assigned by leadership.
- Travel 25% - 50% of the time.
- Ensure compliance with general organization-wide and department-specific ISO/TS 16949 requirements.
- Participate in and support environmental ISO 14001 and safety ISO 45001 activities by developing supporting goals and objectives, attending required training, complying with established procedures, and initiating and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Services, Ergonomics/Human Factors, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field with 3 or more years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, ASP, CFPS, CHMM) is desired but not required.
- Practical technical knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environmental policies, procedures, and terms, including legal issues and terminology.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Ability to negotiate and provide input and recommendations both internally and externally.
- Ability to coordinate and monitor high-level activity under various conditions and constraints.
- Ability to comprehend complex instructions, respond effectively, and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including being on-call 24 hours per day for a week at a time on a rotating basis.
- Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, and fingers rapidly and accurately for precise movements.
- Proficiency in office software applications.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Exerts up to 33 pounds of force and/or negligible force frequently or constantly to move objects.
- Visual requirements include color perception, depth perception, and field of vision.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Work environment is typically indoors in a pleasant, well-lit area with comfortable temperatures and controlled conditions.
- Minimal exposure to dust, fumes, or odors; unavoidable accidents and health hazards are unlikely.
