About the role

The Assistant General Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations at Applegreen travel plazas. This position offers valuable learning experiences for aspiring managers, focusing on key areas such as performance feedback, goal setting, team building, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

  • Confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and clearly communicate business objectives.
  • Ensure day-to-day supervision of non-management associates, assigning tasks, focusing on store-level operations, coaching, and developing shifts supervisors.
  • Competently perform duties in the absence of the general manager.
  • Motivate and positively influence staff, especially during times of low morale.
  • Address issues promptly and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of brand standards and protocols to enhance brand/landlord/labor relations.
  • Ensure the restaurant remains clean, inviting, and adheres to brand standards.
  • Ensure accurate cash management and report daily, following company directives.
  • Address customer needs and resolve issues to maintain positive and long-term relationships.
  • Perform spot inventory counts and checks to ensure inventory data accuracy.

Requirements

  • Passionate about helping people learn and grow the business.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent customer service abilities and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills with a sharp business acumen.
  • Two years of experience in quick-service restaurant or similar management operations.
  • A basic understanding of food safety practices.
  • The ability and willingness to lift/push objects weighing over 30 lbs.
