Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain security systems, smart home automation, audio/video equipment, home theater systems, motorized shades, lighting controls, and Wi-Fi/networking infrastructure
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for residential and commercial clients
  • Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to ensure timely and high-quality installations
  • Conduct site surveys and assess client needs to recommend appropriate solutions
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and system configurations
  • Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and product updates

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a technician in security, audio/video, low-voltage, or related field
  • Knowledge of structured cabling, networking, and system integration
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, and work in various environments including attics, crawl spaces, and construction sites

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CEDIA, CTS, NICET, or manufacturer-specific certifications) are a plus
  • Experience with home automation platforms (e.g., Crestron, Control4, Savant, Lutron) preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of field experience in low-voltage systems installation

Skills

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools used in installation and wiring
  • Familiarity with network configuration, IP addressing, and wireless systems
  • Ability to terminate and test various cable types (Cat5e/6, coaxial, fiber, speaker wire)
  • Time management and ability to work independently or as part of a team
