Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain security systems, smart home automation, audio/video equipment, home theater systems, motorized shades, lighting controls, and Wi-Fi/networking infrastructure
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for residential and commercial clients
- Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to ensure timely and high-quality installations
- Conduct site surveys and assess client needs to recommend appropriate solutions
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and system configurations
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and product updates
Requirements
- Proven experience as a technician in security, audio/video, low-voltage, or related field
- Knowledge of structured cabling, networking, and system integration
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, and work in various environments including attics, crawl spaces, and construction sites
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Industry certifications (e.g., CEDIA, CTS, NICET, or manufacturer-specific certifications) are a plus
- Experience with home automation platforms (e.g., Crestron, Control4, Savant, Lutron) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of field experience in low-voltage systems installation
Skills
- Proficiency with hand and power tools used in installation and wiring
- Familiarity with network configuration, IP addressing, and wireless systems
- Ability to terminate and test various cable types (Cat5e/6, coaxial, fiber, speaker wire)
- Time management and ability to work independently or as part of a team
