Clean and Maintain

• Sweeping and mopping of all areas
• Emptying trash
• Dust and cobweb removal

Customer Service and Administrative Duties

• Answering phones
• Aiding veterinarians and vet technicians
• Filling prescriptions as requested
• Assisting with trainer concerns

Treatment and Preparation

• Administering treatments (oral, IM, SQ medications)
• Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments
• Preparing animals for treatments and procedures

Supportive Roles

• Performing radiographs safely
• Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and appearance
• Reporting animal health issues to veterinarian and supervisor
• Maintaining drug cabinets and kits
• Entering treatment and observation data into the computer system

Technical Skills and Certifications

• Minimum of two years experience as a veterinary assistant, certification or license preferred
• Knowledge of animal restraint techniques required
• Proficiency in surgical preparation and assistance
• Ability to administer and monitor anesthesia
• Ability to perform venipuncture on a variety of animals
• Ability to swim
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to walk the park and run if necessary

Physical Demands and Personal Qualities

• Mental and physical capacities to perform job requirements
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as assigned
• Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InfoPath, etc.)
• Valid drivers license

Work Environment

• Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
• Close contact with all species of animals at the park
• Use of office equipment, computers, and standard veterinary equipment including x-ray machines, needles, and sharp instruments
• Sitting, standing, walking, running, bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting, carrying, climbing, stair walking

Hours and Shifts

• Hours and days may vary
• Must work weekends, evenings, and holidays
