Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE RN) - PRN Nights/On Call

Baylor University Medical Center is seeking an experienced, certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner to provide compassionate, trauma‑informed care while performing specialized forensic examinations. This PRN opportunity is ideal for an experienced RN who can respond calmly in sensitive, high‑acuity situations and is committed to supporting patients while maintaining the integrity of the forensic process.

Schedule

PRN, on‑call position. Most coverage occurs during night shifts. Weekend and holiday availability is required. Specific on‑call expectations and scheduling details will be reviewed during the interview.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient‑centered, trauma‑informed care to sexual assault patients.
• Perform comprehensive forensic examinations.
• Collect, document, and preserve forensic evidence in accordance with established standards.
• Coordinate care with physicians, advocates, law enforcement, and other members of the multidisciplinary response team.
• Provide appropriate follow‑up care and patient education.
• Maintain accurate, thorough, and legally sound documentation.
• Participate in judicial proceedings and provide expert testimony when required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of two years of professional RN experience.
• Current SANE‑A or CA‑SANE certification.
• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Current Basic Life Support certification, or ability to obtain BLS within 30 days of hire.
