Job Summary
The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) seeks a sewing production shop specialist to supervise a workforce in an Arizona Correctional Industries (ACI) production shop. This position involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring safety and quality, and managing workforce participants.
Job Duties
- Works with supervisor to set up daily work assignments and production activities
- Maintains training records for workforce participants
- Supervises inmate workforce in assigned manufacturing center
- Trains workforce participants on ERP system, clerical work, reports, production processes, and methods
- Oversees quality control stations to ensure product quality
- Maintains inventory levels and controls equipment usage
- Communicates material and equipment quality issues to purchasing department
- Reviews and corrects inmate hours and pay in ACIS
- Ensures timely and accurate payment to workforce participants
- Attends staff trainings
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of:
- Supervisory techniques for inmate workforce
- Production methods and techniques in sewing industry
- Equipment and materials used in multi-line production sewing center
- Divisional and Departmental policies and procedures
- Fire and safety standards and regulations
- Safety requirements and practices
- Skills in:
- Directing, supervising, and evaluating inmate workers
- Operating multi-line sewing shop, including equipment maintenance
- Written and verbal communication
- Computer applications
- Ability to:
- Lift/carry approximately 20 lbs.
- Push/pull approximately 20 lbs.
- Walk/run approximately .25 miles
- Interpret ADCRR policy and procedures
- Supervise inmate workforce
- Communicate verbally and in writing
- Operate ERP system, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office
- Drive on State business
Selective Preference(s)
- Three (3) years of experience in fast-paced production environments
- Vocational courses at a post-secondary level in a related field with supervisory seminars and training
