Sewing Machine Operator - Hoods

About the role

The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Arcola, IL, is seeking a Full Time Machine Operator to join their team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect all component parts to ensure they meet quality standards and correspond to the bundling ticket.
• Operate automated machinery in your department.
• Learn about all product lines.
• Ensure finished products meet all quality standards.
• Clean machines, change needles, thread, etc., to meet the machine’s needs.
• Join materials using multi-needle sewing devices, as needed.
• Work in other departments and work areas/machinery as needed.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills.
• Self-motivated.
• Reading, writing, and math skills commensurate with job duties.
• Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential job functions.
• Able to recognize colors and different cloth styles.
• Sitting or standing for 8 hours a day or longer.
• Able to work in an environment with repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, and elbows.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Able to work all mandatory overtime.
