Position Overview
The Sewing Machine Mechanic will be responsible for performing setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on industrial sewing machines.
- Make unscheduled repairs on production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance during machine servicing.
- Read and interpret manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and adjust equipment.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of production equipment.
- Absorb training sewing machine operators in the proper setup and operation of machines.
- Comply with all facility safety rules and regulations.
- Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
- Report any unsafe practices and/or conditions to your supervisor.
- Maintain floor safety discipline by interceding with fellow employees who may engage in rule violations and/or unsafe, unhealthy activities.
- Communicate to management those employees who persist in violations of safety rules and/or procedures.
- Wear required personal protective equipment properly and report any defective PPE.
- Report all near misses, accidents, injuries, or illnesses, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Who you are
- A high school graduate.
- Technical training.
- 2 years' related experience in sewing and production machines.
- Minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical knowledge are preferred.
- OSHA certified.
- Able to use and read a tape measure.
- General knowledge of fabrics and hand cutting of fabrics.
- Able to use production equipment.
- Able to use hand and power tools.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift on a continuous basis.
- Strong attention to details.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
