Sewing Inspector

Job Purpose

Inspect finished sewing projects to ensure a quality product was produced.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection of finished product to ensure:
  • ½‑inch seams
  • Stitches are straight
  • No skipped stitches
  • Piece is sewn to specifications
  • No holes or flaws in the fabric/leather
• Measure welt for correct length using a ruler.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Working Conditions

Heated and cooled furniture manufacturing plant with concrete floors.

Supervision

Minimum supervision received; no direct reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience Requirements: Manufacturing experience.
• Preferred Experience: Experience in furniture manufacturing.
• Minimum Education Requirements: Less than high school.
• Preferred Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Skills & Physical Requirements

• Ability to read a ruler.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to describe and convey non‑conformance issues.
• Strict attention to detail.
• Team player with a positive attitude.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Reliable personal transportation.
• Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
• Availability to work weekends and overtime.
• Reliability and strong English language skills (reading, comprehending, speaking, writing, communication).
• Wearing required safety PPE (safety glasses, closed‑toe/closed‑heel shoes) and adherence to all safety policies and procedures.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; overtime as needed.
