Sewing and Fashion Design Instructor

About the role

Creative Development Studios is seeking a Sewing & Fashion Design instructor to teach students ranging from K-8 during the 2026-2027 School Year. This position is for in-person instruction at locations in Beltsville, MD within Prince George's County.

Schedule

• Wednesdays, 2:30pm - 3:30pm
• Classes are in two 8-week sessions
• May have multiple contracts at multiple sites

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an arts program that enables youth to develop their creativity
• Contribute to effectively planning programs, services, and activities
• Instruct, coach, and direct varied activities
• Implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for assigned programs
• Exercise independent judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Contribute to programs, activities, and services that prepare youth for success
• Contribute to creating a team environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes
• Contribute to ensuring a healthy and safe environment
• Contribute to ensuring that facilities, equipment, and supplies are maintained

Qualifications

• Must be located within Prince George's County area, Beltsville, MD
• Must have experience with school-age youth
• High School diploma
• Ability to obtain a clear background check within the agency's timeline
• A minimum of one year of experience working with creative and visual art programs
• Experience with various forms of sewing (hand/machine/embroidery, etc.)

• Use of equipment and tools related to work
• Principles related to the development of youth
• Group leadership skills and understanding of group dynamics

Pay

$50.00-$60.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Materials

• A material budget will be provided
• 2+ sewing machines will be available depending on students' ability
