About the role

This position is responsible for assembling individual fabrics, zippers, and other sub-components into fabricated mattress cover. Major challenges involve the efficient usage of various components to produce cushion covers per customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Receive and understand instructions from department supervisor or lead person.
• Accept work (component parts) distributed by material handlers or lead person.
• Assemble using specified sewing procedures, fabric and tick components into a finished cover according to specified customer requirements.
• Self-inspect each step of the sewing process to ensure customer expectations are met.
• Place finished product onto table or skid for next step in production process.
• Enclose finished cover with neat seams to meet customer demands.
• Clean sewing machine and perform basic maintenance.
• Set up sewing area with adequate supplies.
• Adhere to established department production procedures.
• Assist with necessary inventory counting (non-essential).
• Assist with turning finished covers from inside to outside appearance (non-essential).

Qualifications

• Prior industrial sewing experience is required.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to work with little or no supervision.

Education

High School diploma or GED is preferred.

Pay

$21.33–$22.03 per hour.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–2:30 pm, depending on business needs.
