The site in Chaska is seeking an Extrusion Setup Technician to join the team. This role involves preparing, setting up, and optimizing extrusion equipment that produces high-quality plastic tubing for critical customer applications. Responsibilities
- Interpret work order diagrams, extrusion specifications, and engineering blueprints to perform accurate machine setups
- Mount, adjust, and maneuver extrusion tooling according to specifications
- Configure and calibrate extrusion equipment—including alignment, temperature control, speed settings, and other parameters—to ensure optimal performance
- Set up embedded quality measurement systems to monitor tube thickness, diameter, and dimensional accuracy
- Adjust automatic counters and measurement systems to ensure work order accuracy
- Visually inspect and measure extruded products to verify alignment with quality standards and work order requirements
- Collaborate with process technicians and team leads to troubleshoot issues and implement machine adjustments
- Maintain accurate charts for rejected materials and take corrective actions when needed
- Use SAP and other electronic systems to log production data, search for information, and complete required documentation
- Complete production reports, labels, rework sheets, rack tickets, and all other required documentation accurately and on time
- Participate in continuous improvement activities such as 6S, waste reduction, and Kaizen events
- Support cross-functional collaboration by communicating effectively with operators, warehouse staff, and technical partners
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage, equipment guarding, and lockout/tagout procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be 18 years or older and have the right to work in the US without sponsorship
- Prior experience in a manufacturing setup environment or plastics extrusion operations preferred
- Mechanical aptitude with basic machine troubleshooting skills
- Ability to understand and interpret work order blueprints and technical drawings
- Basic math and computer/data entry proficiency
- Experience using powered hand tools and measurement tools (e.g., calipers, gauges)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
