Setup Technician - 2nd shift Molding

Set-Up Technician Position Summary

Cretex Medical is seeking a skilled Setup Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and tearing down injection molds, preparing auxiliary equipment, conducting first piece inspections, and troubleshooting issues in our molding equipment.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Locate, transport, install, and store injection molds according to established guidelines
• Prepare auxiliary and secondary support equipment as required at the press
• Monitor presses and alarms, and troubleshoot issues
• Follow proper setup checks and floor operation procedures
• Troubleshoot the manufacturing process to diagnose and resolve manufacturing problems affecting product quality
• Maintain part quality by completing audits and documenting defective parts
• Understand the operating characteristics and capabilities of all manufacturing machinery, equipment, and controls
• Create and route reports and communications
• Present information to individuals or small groups
• Read and comply with work instructions, setup sheets, and checklists
• Enter production information into the ERP system in a timely manner
• Accurately record and report hours worked
• Maintain an organized work area (5S) to include workstations, equipment, walkways, and locker rooms
• Participate in the Operational Excellence Program
• Understand and comply with the Cretex professional competencies, company policies, and employee manual
• Adhere to all safety policies, including wearing personal protective equipment when required
• Support and comply with the company's Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
• Complete all other work duties as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to perform set-up for new molds and highly complex molds as directed
• Knowledge of plastic resins, mold setup, and functions of an injection molding press
• Ability to create and route reports and communications
• Knowledge of basic math
• Ability to operate a forklift and overhead cranes
• Ability to promote and maintain a safe work environment
• Minimum of 3 years of experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read, comprehend, follow, and document work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training documents
• Mechanical aptitude
• Dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks

Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)

Pay

The starting hourly rate for this position is USD $21.20 and the maximum is USD $30.72. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. Shift differential is also available.
