Setup Tech - Injection Molding

About the Role

Provide support to direct manufacturing activities and ensure parts are manufactured and packaged to meet customers’ expectations within established standards. This is an entry-level position focused on learning mold and fixture settings, including basic hydraulic, electrical, and water needs for molds, as well as foundational plastics knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Set molds, secondary fixtures, and start mold machines, welders, and secondary equipment.
• Assist in the setup of operation and secondary equipment, including robot/CNC auxiliary equipment.
• Store and retrieve molds and fixtures, maintaining records and performing minor preventative maintenance.
• Input existing job logs into required presses and learn machine control systems.
• Understand and comply with QS 9000 and TS 16949 standards as they relate to the IMOD process and production activities.
• Store and document molds and fixtures using green/red standard operating procedures.
• Learn and properly use the company’s Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program as an authorized employee.
• Obtain a Flambeau Plastics-issued forklift license through the internal training program.
• Learn proper and safe practices for mold installation and setups.
• Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude with coworkers, employers, customers, and suppliers.
• Demonstrate a strong desire to learn new and changing technologies.
• Provide and maintain your own tools and storage cabinet within six months of hire.

Requirements

• High school education and/or GED preferred, or a combination of experience, training, and education.
• Preferred: Two-year degree in Industrial Maintenance or five years of experience in Industrial Maintenance.
• Pass required company skill-level testing.
• Proficiency in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, and simple formulas.
• Ability to read and interpret charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, and comparable data.
• Basic computer skills, including the use of percentages, X-bar and R charts, and let-down ratios.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn blow molding/injection processes, secondary equipment, and robotics.
• Experience or willingness to work with electronics and hydraulics.
• Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with associates, supervisors, and management.
• Sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform all required tasks.
• Quality and quantity performance standards should be attained within one to three years under normal supervision.

Physical Demands

• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Performing tasks involving reaching, feeling, handling, grasping, twisting, and turning.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 100 lbs., with proper equipment assistance.
• Ability to distinguish colors and shading.
• Clear vision, with near vision at 12 inches or more and far vision at 20 ft. or more; corrective lenses must be used if required for inspections.
• Good communication skills, including clear speaking and hearing.
