Setup Tech - Injection Molding

About the role

The primary responsibility is to support direct manufacturing activities, ensuring parts meet customer expectations while adhering to established standards.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate molds and secondary fixtures
• Start and stop mold machines and welders
• Store and retrieve molds and fixtures
• Maintain records and perform minor mold/fixture maintenance
• Work cooperatively with colleagues, employers, customers, and suppliers
• Learn and apply new technologies and processes
• Obtain necessary certifications and licenses (forklift license, LOTO program)
• Understand and implement QS 9000 and TS 16949 standards
• Perform basic hydraulics, electrical, and plastics knowledge tasks
• Assist in setting up and operating secondary and robot equipment
• Input job logs into presses and understand machine control systems
• Document and store molds and fixtures according to green/red standard operating procedures

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Two-year degree in Industrial Maintenance or five years of related experience
• Pass company skill level testing
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Ability to interpret charts, drawings, and specifications
• Knowledge of blow molding and injection processes, secondary equipment, and robots
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with electronics and hydraulics
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Sufficient physical capabilities to perform tasks requiring lifting, carrying, and moving objects
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Qualifications

• Must provide own tools and storage cabinet within six months of employment
• Must comply with company’s LOTO program as an authorized employee
• Must demonstrate mechanical skills and ability to learn new technologies
• Must pass company skill level testing
• Must be able to distinguish colors and have clear vision
• Must have and use corrective vision lenses if needed
