Overall Purpose And Objective Of Position
The Settlements Associate provides back-office support for a global commodity merchandiser and processor of agricultural goods. Responsibilities include payables, receivables, and inventory tasks related to grain, biofuels, and co-products.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Prepare ticket records for accounting software import
- Process purchase and sale advances and settlements daily
- Collect and validate required documentation (weight, grade, CoA)
- Reconcile inventory records with accounting software
- Prepare and process daily payment batches (checks, PMX, ACH, wire)
- Monitor unpaid tickets and deferred settlements
- Maintain all execution function records
Additional Responsibilities
- Communicate with customers via phone and email to facilitate payments and receipts
- Reconcile payment/invoice discrepancies with customers' representatives
- Perform other assigned duties
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Two years of clerical accounting experience required
- Two years of college with accounting coursework and agricultural industry experience preferred
Skills
- Knowledge of general accounting principles
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced trading floor environment; must meet daily deadlines
- Occasional extended work hours for time-sensitive projects/emergencies
