SETSS Special Education Teacher - Bronx
About the role
Knowledge Road is hiring NYS‑certified Special Education Teachers to work as SETSS providers on a 1099 basis in the Bronx. The company holds a New York City DOE contract to provide IEP‑ and IESP‑mandated services to students who attend independent, parochial and charter schools across the borough, plus some homeschooled students. These placements are not in DOE public schools.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group SETSS instruction aligned to each student's IEP or IESP goals
- Keep session notes and complete required documentation
- Complete progress reports as required
- Communicate with the school, the family and the student's team
- Attend IESP meetings for the students you work with
Requirements
- NYS certification in Students with Disabilities (B‑2, 1‑6, 7‑12 or All Grades)
- Availability to work in the Bronx
- Must not have been employed by the NYC Department of Education within the past year; if you have, special approval is required
Pay
- 1 student: $60/hour
- 2 students: $70/hour
- 3‑4 students: $75/hour
- 5‑8 students: $100/hour
- Sessions are submitted at month‑end and paid by direct deposit, generally within about a week
Schedule
Workload is self‑directed: there is no minimum caseload, no exclusivity requirement, and no cap on hours from Knowledge Road — you take on as many cases as you choose. Most cases occur during the school day in Bronx schools, with some after‑school and occasional weekend sessions. Availability of cases varies throughout the year; Knowledge Road recruits year‑round and informs you of open cases when you apply.
