Set-Up Welder

About the role

Eagle Crusher is looking for talented Set-up Welders to join our team. You will lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to set up and/or weld out structural forms and parts.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and machine drawings to determine equipment, plan layout, set-up, and welding.
• Perform necessary laying out, cutting, bending, forming, and assembly operations using fixtures and positioners in preparation for welding.
• Verify conformance of work piece to specifications.
• Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
• Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.
• Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
• Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure.
• Operate overhead crane and/or forklift as needed.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform any related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience doing set-up welds and ability to pass a 2G weld test.
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications, and welding symbols.
• Knowledgeable of different kinds of metal and their properties.
• Experience operating a forklift and/or overhead crane preferred.
• Ability to commit to a flexible schedule and prompt arrival for shifts.
