Set Up Operator

About the role

Premium Metals, Inc., a division of American Consolidated Industries, is a leading provider of steel products. This position is within the set up operator team, responsible for maintaining and operating various production processes.

Responsibilities

• Embrace the 1 T.E.A.M. culture
• Wear all required protective equipment as per safety policy and OSHA standards
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment through adherence to safety guidelines and good housekeeping practices
• Develop knowledge of slitter set-up programs
• Generate build sheets based on production work orders
• Build heads utilizing build sheet instructions
• Maintain knife and rubber inventory
• Clean slitter knives and slitter tooling
• Set-up, maintain, and repair production machines, tooling, and other equipment
• Perform routine checks of parts to ensure product quality
• Constantly inspect machinery, equipment, and processes for safety
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Industry knowledge and experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to use computers and read measurements
• Ability to perform set-up and operational tasks
• Dependable attendance and flexibility to work outside normal business hours
• Able to communicate effectively with employees at all levels
• Ability to read and understand work instructions, orders, and correspondence
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• The work environment is usually noisy.
• The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• The employee must sit, use hands, and perform other physical tasks.
