About the role

Corston Architectural Detail is expanding across North America and seeks a Set Builder / Skilled Laborer based near Chicago (Hanover Park) to support the fit‑out of showrooms and retail spaces, as well as set builds for photoshoots, exhibitions, and brand events. The role involves traveling to project sites across the U.S., with optional international opportunities, and working under the Building Manager to deliver premium‑standard interiors on budget and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Constructing and fitting out retail showrooms and exhibition sets to a premium standard across the US
• Interpreting design briefs and floor plans to build consistent, brand‑aligned interiors
• Working across multiple trades: carpentry, painting, decorating
• Supporting product display builds, photoshoots, and promotional events
• Traveling to project sites across the U.S., with optional international opportunities
• Taking direction from the Building Manager and staying on budget and on schedule

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• 5+ years of experience in construction, carpentry, or multi‑trade environments
• Solid craftsmanship and high attention to detail
• Comfortable using a wide range of tools and materials
• Understanding of basic safety protocols and construction best practices
• Ability to read and follow design briefs or brand layout standards
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to travel regularly within the U.S.
• Retail or showroom fit‑out experience (a plus)
• Ability to estimate and order building materials (a plus)
• Confident working both independently and within a team
• Practical, problem‑solving mindset for dynamic environments
• Pride in delivering exceptional results, even under pressure
