Course Number and Title: VIS316H1S - The Constructed Image
Course Description: Through research, concept development, as well as direct engagement with materials and processes, students will explore the constructed image and constructedness as an intersection of theory and practice.

Sessional Dates of Appointment: 1 January, 2027 to 30 April, 2027 (Winter semester)

Duties

  • Preparation and delivery of course material
  • Managing digital teaching materials and platform
  • Supervision of teaching assistants
  • Preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations
  • Marking of student work, submission of grades
  • Dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions
  • Student contact hours

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: MA or MFA (or equivalent graduate degree) required with previous teaching experience. Strong exhibition history and currently exhibiting artist. Applicants may be asked to supply references.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Internationally recognized practice.

Pay

  • Sessional Lecturer I: $ 9,997.58
  • Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $ 10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II: $ 10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $ 10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III: $ 10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 11,228.90

This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
