About the role

Course Number and Title: ENV200H1S Assessing Global Change: Science and the Environment

Course Description: The perspective which scientists bring to the understanding and resolution of environmental concerns having global implications: atmospheric systems and climate change, the biosphere and conservation of biodiversity.

Estimated TA Support: 784 hours • Estimated Enrolment: 495 • Class Schedule: Tuesdays 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Sessional Dates of Appointment: January 1, 2027 – April 30, 2027

Responsibilities

  • Develop a detailed syllabus and curriculum for the course
  • Teach the course in an in-person format
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Hold office hours and meet with students as they request
  • Manage a team of teaching assistants
  • Work with the Writing-Integrated Teaching Lead Teaching Assistant
  • Handle other pedagogical and administrative tasks ordinarily associated with teaching an undergraduate course

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in relevant area of study or equivalent professional and/or academic experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant academic or professional publications and previous experience teaching a similar large undergraduate course are highly desirable.

Pay

  • Sessional Lecturer I – $9,997.48
  • Sessional Lecturer I Long-Term – $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II – $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II Long-Term – $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III – $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III Long-Term – $11,228.90

Please note that should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.
