Sessional Lecturer - CTL7006H - Educational Research 1

About the role

This course is designed to develop students' identities as teacher-researchers who continuously engage in critical inquiry as a key component of their professional practice. Students will develop knowledge and understanding of how to access, interpret, synthesize, and evaluate research literature in a chosen field of study, and they will learn what it means to enact research-informed practice in their identities as critical inquiry practitioners.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, organize, and teach this graduate course;
• Be available to students seeking assistance between classes;
• Evaluate and provide students with feedback on their work.

Requirements

• Demonstrated current knowledge grounded in existing professional networks with both Valley Park Middle School and TDSB;
• Extensive experience with and knowledge of supporting the intersection of educational research and professional learning in school-based contexts;
• TDSB leadership experience and expert knowledge of current TDSB education priorities and strategies;
• Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional experience;
• Experience with and completed coursework in qualitative research methodology;
• Experience with interview based research and interview protocol development;
• Experience with document analysis methods;
• Experience with qualitative thematic data analysis;
• Experience with writing and supporting the development of literature reviews;
• Experience with research writing support and providing quality feedback;
• Experience designing and facilitating workshops;
• Strong listening and communication skills;
• Commitment to student support;
• Collaborative and works well as a member of a team.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with educators using system and school-based data for inquiry to support student learning, equity, program and teacher development;
• Experience with research that informs the development and implementation of new school-based educational strategies and programs;
• Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in action research and school-based inquiry in the context of a school-university partnership;
• Extensive experience with and knowledge of supporting the intersection of educational research and professional learning in school-based contexts.

Pay

• As of September 1, 2026, the minimum stipend is $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course.
• As of January 1, 2027, the minimum stipend is $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course.
• Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.

Schedule

• Class schedule: Monday 13:00 - 16:00
• Sessional dates of appointment: 2026-09-01 - 2027-04-30
• Appointment percentage: 100%
