About the role
The City of Cape Coral seeks an experienced Service Worker III to join our team. This position operates simple to moderately complex equipment and performs daily safety inspections.
Responsibilities
- Operates simple to moderately complex equipment, such as water tankers, tractors, power brooms, mowers, trucks, forklifts, back hoes, jack hammers, mowers, edgers, trimmers, saws, augers, or other related tools used in maintenance and operation.
- Prepares assigned equipment for daily work orders by daily inspecting prior to and after use, and performing regular maintenance and minor repair as directed.
- Ensures the safe loading, unloading and operating condition of equipment through daily safety inspections for defects, malfunctioning, or otherwise substandard conditions. Identifies and takes corrective action or advises supervisor.
- Performs pre-trip inspection of vehicle, notifying supervisor and/or Fleet of concerns or maintenance needed.
- Cleans debris and refuse from City property regularly, in response to routine work orders, and in response to emergency orders.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED.
- If assigned to Utilities: Two (2) years of experience in maintenance and repair of utilities infrastructure associated with water production, water reclamation, or utilities collection and distribution systems.
- A valid Florida CDL B driver’s license is required at time of application.
- If assigned to operate water tanker: Must possess a Tanker (N) Endorsement on driver's license.
- If assigned to Utilities: Must possess a valid Backflow Testing/Repair or Cross Connection Control certification at time of application.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED.
- If assigned to Utilities: Two (2) years of experience in maintenance and repair of utilities infrastructure associated with water production, water reclamation, or utilities collection and distribution systems.
