Service Turnkey Helper
About the Role
Climate Systems is seeking a motivated and dependable Service Turnkey Helper to support retrofit, replacement, and installation projects for commercial HVAC systems and equipment. This position works under the direction of the Service Turnkey Technician and Service Turnkey Team Lead, assisting with completing turnkey project work safely, professionally, and efficiently while maintaining Climate Systems’ quality and customer service standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a hands-on commercial HVAC environment. This role provides an opportunity to develop HVAC installation skills while working alongside experienced technicians on a variety of commercial HVAC systems and projects.

Responsibilities
- Assist Service Turnkey Technicians and the Service Turnkey Team Lead with commercial HVAC retrofit, replacement, and installation projects.
- Assist with removal and replacement of HVAC equipment and components.
- Assist with setting and positioning equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, mini-splits, exhaust fans, heaters, air-handling equipment, and other commercial HVAC systems.
- Assist with basic ductwork modifications, piping, equipment connections, and other mechanical installation work under the direction of a Technician or Team Lead.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other installation equipment appropriate to assigned tasks.
- Load, unload, transport, stage, and organize equipment, materials, tools, and supplies for Service Turnkey projects.
- Assist with staging equipment and materials in the warehouse and on job sites in an organized and easily identifiable manner.
- Help verify that materials and equipment delivered to the job site are in good condition and report damaged or incorrect items to the Technician or Team Lead.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout each project.
- Assist with demolition, equipment removal, cleanup, and disposal of materials as directed.
- Support Technicians during equipment startups, functional testing, and project closeout activities.
- Assist with completion of project punch-list items as directed.
- Follow instructions from Service Turnkey Technicians and the Service Turnkey Team Lead regarding project scope, installation procedures, and daily work assignments.
- Learn and follow Climate Systems’ installation standards, mechanical practices, and quality expectations.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and job-site safety requirements.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, injuries, or other job-site concerns to the Technician or Team Lead.
- Maintain company-provided tools and equipment in good working condition and use them only for their intended purpose.
- Demonstrate professionalism and respect when interacting with customers, coworkers, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades on the job site.
- Participate in company-provided technical, safety, and skills training.
- Continue developing knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, equipment, installation practices, and basic mechanical drawings.
- Take initiative to learn from experienced Technicians and Team Leads and continuously improve technical skills and job knowledge.
- Assist other team members as necessary to ensure projects are completed safely, professionally, and on schedule.
- Perform other such duties as assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in HVAC installation, construction, mechanical work, or a related trade preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to continue learning the commercial HVAC trade.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC equipment, components, tools, and installation practices preferred.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively under the direction of a Technician or Team Lead.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools, power tools, and installation equipment.
- Basic ability to read measurements and perform job-related math.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
- Dependable attendance and ability to report to assigned job sites on time.
- Willingness to participate in training and continue developing HVAC installation and mechanical skills.
- Ability to work in commercial mechanical environments that may include rooftops, ladders, mechanical rooms, construction sites, and outdoor conditions.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with commercial HVAC installation work.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
