About the role
The Service Technician I executes the setup, installation, and repair of electronic communication and surveillance systems for remote and field-based sites. This position provides field support for technology products such as communications and networked surveillance equipment. It requires hands-on technical skills, strong troubleshooting ability, and a customer-first attitude.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and repair communication systems, including mobile cellular communications equipment, wireless network products, and satellite equipment (e.g., PBX, modems, routers, satellite terminals, and hard-wired connections)
- Support maintenance and repair of surveillance systems, including IP cameras, NVRs, and supporting powered components
- Configure and troubleshoot network, telephony, and satellite terminal-related systems
- Perform routine maintenance and system checks; complete field retrofits and upgrades
- Communicate job progress and issues to customers, project managers, and management
- Crosstrain and collaborate with additional field operations as required
Requirements
- Knowledge of basic networking concepts and low-voltage systems
- Familiarity with various Video Management Systems (VMS) and IP-based cameras
- Ability to work independently or with minimal remote guidance
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and strong customer service orientation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and travel as needed
Qualifications
- Training from a two-year vocational or technical program or equivalent field experience (preferred)
- 1–2 years of experience in surveillance, communications, or related low-voltage installation work (preferred)
